    Colleen Carpenter of Dundalk was one of 10 California Lutheran Universtiy students chosen by their peers to participate in the Sankta Lucia Festival, an ancient Swedish ceremony honoring the Christian martyr who died at the stake on Dec. 13, 304 A.D. Five female and five male participants were chosen for their faith, depth of character and leadership qualities to sit on Sankta Lucia’s court during the festival, which took place on Dec. 6. Carpenter is a senior theology and Christian leadership major at the school.

    Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts Music Boosters will host a fundraiser breakfast Saturday, Jan. 5, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Applebee’s Restaurant in Eastpoint Mall. The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children nine and younger.

    Baltimore County Public Schools is inviting the public to submit online comments regarding the draft framework of its new five-year strategic plan, called “Blueprint 2.0.” The strategic plan framework consists of vision and mission statements, core values, goals and strategic initiatives.     Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts student Eva Hill was selected for the 2013 Maryland All State Junior Chorus. She will go through three days of intensive rehearsals with renowned guest conductors before presenting a public concert Sunday, March 10, at  1 p.m. at South Hagerstown High School.
