Emergency blood drives planned

    The American Red Cross is holding blood drives in three area locations to address critical shortages.
    Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is hosting a blood drive Thursday, Jan. 24, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m in the Francis X. Knott Conference Center. To schedule an appointment or for more information, call 410-550-0289. Every participant will receive a parking pass, a meal coupon and gift from the center.
    St Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1803 Dundalk Ave., is hosting a blood drive Thursday, Jan. 31, from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. Call Judy Kruse to make an appointment at 410-477-5271.
    On Saturday, Feb. 2, Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 6736 Youngstown Ave., will be hosting a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. To make an appointment, call 1-800-RED CROSS.
    O-negative donors are especially needed because this type of blood can be transferred to anyone, regardless of blood type. Donors of other blood types are also in demand.
