    Baltimore County Public Schools is accepting nominations from high school students for membership on the 2013-14 Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council. The 15-member council meets quarterly to provide feedback on school initiatives and policies and to voice concerns of fellow students. Three students will be selected to represent each of the five geographic regions of the county. Nominees will also be evaluated on grade levels and areas of interest.
    Nomination forms  are  available on the BCPS website under the “What’s Happening” section or by request by e-mailing mprumo@bcps.org or calling 410-887-8706. Forms are due no later than 4:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16.  Appointees to the council will receive notification by Friday, Sept. 20.

    Students, parents and other interested parties are encouraged to offer feedback on Baltimore County Public Schools’ magnet programs at public forums taking place Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Sandalwood Elementary School, 900 S. Marlyn Ave., and Thursday, Sept. 19, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Mars Estates Elementary School, 1500 E. Homberg Ave. Public comment during the forums will be a critical component in the ongoing BCPS magnet program evaluation.

    Baltimore County Public Schools is inviting parents and guardians of BCPS students to apply for positions on the Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council, which will meet quarterly with the superintendent and other school officials to give advice and feedback.
    The 15-member council will be composed of parents and guardians with at least one child in the school system. Nominees will be evaluated on factors including their child’s grade level, location of residence and areas of interest and expertise.
    Three parent advisory council members will represent each of the five geographic regions of the county: southwest, northwest, central, northeast and southeast.
