UPDATED: Suspect, victim in Paulette Road shooting identified; suspect — the victim’s son — is charged with first-degree murder

    Baltimore County Police have identified the victim in the fatal shooting on Paulette Road yesterday as Richard Anthony Washington, 52, of the 2000 block of Paulette Road.
     The suspect has been identified as the victim’s son, 18-year-old Richard J. Washington, also of the 2000 block of Paulette Road. He has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
     Police say the initial investigation indicates that the victim and the suspect were involved in an argument when the suspect allegedly shot his father several times with a large-caliber firearm.
    Police and fire personnel responded to an apartment in the 2000 block of Paulette Road at 1:03 p.m. yesterday for a report of a shooting. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found an adult male, later identified as the elder Washington, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.He was transported to an area hospital and was later pronounced dead.
    The victim’s son was then taken into custody.
    The shooting is Baltimore County’s first homicide of 2014.
