Army JROTC cadets from Patapsco High School traveled to Washington, D.C., to visit the capital’s World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War memorials, as well as the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery.

The 80 cadets were side-by-side with veterans at the World War II memorial (left) and paid their respects to seven Patapsco alumni — Larry Barnhill (Class of 1964), James Cannington, Melvin Ranson (both Class of 1965), Joseph Gregory Sands, James Budahazy, Ronald Cassell and George Carroll Letmate (all Class of 1966) — who gave their lives in the Vietnam War (right). The trip concluded with a visit to Fort Meyer for the Twilight Tattoo Ceremony. The Patapsco JROTC’s Raider Team recently won the Baltimore County Public Schools Southeast Commanders Trophy, besting Marine cadets from Chesapeake High School, naval cadets from Dundalk High and Air Force cadets from Kenwood in an eight-event competition.
