BREAKING: Police seek robbery suspect

Baltimore County police are looking for a man responsible for robbing a Quick Mart in the 6900 block of German Hill Road, 21222 with a knife on March 10, according to a police press release.
    At 10:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to the store for a report of an armed robbery, the release said. A man reportedlydisplayed a knife to the cashier and demanded money from the register, then fled westbound on foot onto German Hill Road.         

The area was searched by patrol, K-9 and aviation units, but the suspect was not located.
    The suspect is described as a white male, 30 to 40 years old, approximately 5’7” tall, with tattoos on the outside of both calves and a tattoo on the back side of his right hand.
    Police say the same man also attempted to rob the Royal Farms store on O’Donnell Street prior to the Baltimore County robbery.
    Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Baltimore County Police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587).

BREAKING: Eastpoint Mall to go on auction block

    Eastpoint Mall will be auctioned on May 29, according to a legal notice published this week.
    The auction, to be conducted by Towson-based Tidewater Auctions LLC, will be held at the Baltimore County Courthouse on Bosley Road in Towson at 11 a.m. on May 29. A $1 million deposit wil be required at the time of purchase, according to the legal notice.

Lacks’ legacy lives on in Turner Station and beyond

    There is something about Turner Station that produces greatness.
    It has to be something in the water.
    How else do you explain the fact that such a small community in southeastern Baltimore County has turned out such notable citizens as Henrietta Lacks, Kevin Clash and NASA astronaut Robert Curbeam?
    Last Saturday, May 12, one of Turner Station’s hometown heroes was recognized as London artist Helen Wilson-Roe arrived in town to begin work on her upcoming exhibition on the life of Henrietta Lacks.

Patapsco grad injured in Afghanistan

Sgt. Haag recovering at Walter Reed

    Patapsco High School & Center for the Arts alum Sgt. Chase Haag is recovering from injuries after his team was hit with an improvised explosive device on May 1 while serving in Afghanistan.
    The 2008 Patapsco graduate has been on active duty in the U.S. Army and was living in Germany with his fianceé before he was stationed in Afghanistan. Haag says he didn’t black out and remembers every horrifying detail of the attack.

Dunfest 2012 brings fun, info to the community

Event featured a variety of local resources, fun

    If you passed by Heritage Park this weekend and thought the Heritage Fair had come early, don’t worry. It was actually Dunfest 2012.
    Organized by the new Dundalk Community Partnership (DCP), the first Dunfest event was held last Saturday in the same park that will host the annual Heritage Fair this summer.
    The Dunfest event featured a variety of festivities, including music, food, face painting and games.
    According to  DCP spokesperson Sammi Turner, herself a longtime Dundalk resident, Dunfest was designed to introduce residents to a variety of available resources.
