Midday murder-suicide at Rolling Mill Road business By Joseph M. Giordano
A man walked into Keary Advertising and shot the company’s owner, Wayne Keary, before shooting himself at about 12:33 p.m. Friday, according to Baltimore County Police Department spokesman Bill Toohey. The gunman, identified by police as Dennis L. McLaughlin, 45, of Park Drive in Baltimore Highlands, was in a domestic dispute with Keary, 59, according to Toohey. McLaughlin was distraught over an alleged affair between his wife and Keary, said Diane Withrow, who works at the direct-mail business in the 7200 block of Rolling Mill Road. McLaughlin shot Keary five times in the chest, walked outside the building and shot himself once in the upper body, according to Toohey. Keary was pronounced dead at the scene, and McLaughlin died from his wound on the way to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Toohey said. Look for more details in the next issue of The Eagle.
