JoJo the Clown’s missing shoe is found, returned

The woman who found JoJo the Clown’s shoe does not want to be recognized. But the clown, whose real name is Tommy Beavers, appreciates her alertness.

Cindy – she declined to give her last name but says she’s a barber in the area – spotted the photo in last week’s Eagle showing Beavers holding out a huge red left shoe and read the caption describing how he’d lost the irreplaceable right shoe.
Cindy realized she’d seen it while walking her dog.
“It was on Dunglow Road in a gutter by a curb, near a storm drain,” she said. “My dog kept going over to it, and I pulled him back. I thought, That looks like a clown shoe. But I didn’t think anything more of it.”
Then she saw the photo and called Beavers’ phone number, which was in the caption. Beavers’ friend, who was in the house tending to a plumbing problem, heard the message and retrieved the shoe.
“I must’ve gotten four or five phone calls from people who said they’d seen the shoe lying in the gutter around where the no. 20 bus used to turn around,” Beavers said.
Gigs as JoJo have dwindled over the past year, according to Beavers, but he said he had to wear replacement shoes – red Converses – only once while his prized pair remained incomplete.
Beavers, who like Cindy lives on Liberty Parkway, found her at the barbershop where she works, gave her a hug and offered to buy her lunch. Which she turned down.
“She said, ‘I feel like a good Samaritan,’” he said.
